Bank rules: post repeat transactions
Tell Lite which account a regular bank line belongs to. Rules suggest; a person posts.
A bank rule matches words in a bank transaction's description, such as “DEWA” or “Etisalat”, and suggests the account it belongs to. Nothing is posted until someone reviews the suggestion.
Create a rule
- Go to Banking, then Bank automation.
- Under Matching rule, enter a Rule name.
- In Description contains, type the words that appear on the bank line.
- Choose the Direction: Any, Money in or Money out.
- Choose the Account the transaction should go to.
- Set a Priority from 1 to 999. When two rules match, the lower number wins.
- Choose Save rule.
Review and post
- Import a statement as usual. Lines waiting for review appear under Suggestion & exception queue, with how many days they have been waiting. A line that matches a rule shows the suggested account; a line that matches no rule shows as an Exception.
- Check each suggestion and choose Review & post. The line is posted to that account and its history shows the rule was applied and who accepted it.
Limits
- A rule can post only to an income or expense account. VAT, tax, inventory, depreciation, amortisation and FX accounts need a proper document, such as a bill.
- Matching ignores capital letters.
- Lines dated in a locked period cannot be posted from a rule.
Tip: Keep the match words short and specific. “DEWA” is better than the whole description, which changes every month.
