Import your client list from Excel
Upload the spreadsheet you already keep and check every row before anything is saved.
Go to Clients and choose Import from Excel. Upload your own file, or download the sample first. The sample has every column, two worked example rows and a sheet explaining what goes in each column.
Your headings work as they are
The first row must hold the headings, though a title above them is fine. Common names are recognised on sight, for example Customer Name, CT TRN, VAT No, Year End, Incorporation, Handled By and Monthly Fee. Anything not recognised can be pointed at the right field by hand, or left as skip.
Check, then import
- Map any unmatched columns on the first screen.
- Review the second screen. Each row shows as new, already on the desk (matched by name or TRN), or skipped with the reason.
- For clients already on the desk, choose to leave them alone or update them from the file.
- Import. A progress bar shows how far it has got, with one summary at the end.
Each imported client is created the same way as one typed by hand, so registrations, set-up tasks and deadlines raise themselves. Portal passwords in the file are saved to the vault only if you can see stored passwords at the time.
